Munnar meaning “three rivers”, is located at the confluence of three mountain streams videlicet Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala. Located at an altitude of 1600 meters above the sea level, the place offers an ideal escapade from the heat and buzzing of urban life into the tranquil laps of nature. The mist covered rolling hills, exotic plantations, colonial remnants, panoramic views, and pristine wilderness all add to the exquisite beauty of this hill station.I recently did a backpacking trip to Munnar along with a couple of friends.All these places are very famous places in Munnar. Its climate and beauty add plus points to make more memorable holidays. It is the paradise for the honeymooners. And Munnar never disappointed its viewers and always provides an eye catching views to the tourists.y heart is in my throat as the car winds its way around the mountains; the hairpin bends appear in scary regularity. In a matter of minutes we’re shrouded in a veil of fog.
A cool wind breezes through the car windows. And, then the clouds suddenly make way for a brilliant ribbon of sunlight. No wonder tourist places in Munnar is called misty havens a reason because of which we have names our Munnar sightseeing package as Misty Munnar.Due to all these reasons Munnar‘s whole economy is depend upon the Tourism. So on can get hotel in each area of Munnar that ranges from 5 stars to budget. Most of the tourists prefer to book budget hotel in Munnar because those are more affordable than the 5 star hotels in Munnar.
We traveled during the last week of February and the weather was pretty hot. The high temperature enroute to Munnar raised some questions in our mind about the weather we are going to experience over there. As the bus started going up the high range hills, we started feeling the cool breeze and could quickly feel the difference in temperature.
The temperature in night could fall below zero degree Celsius during December~January but the lowest it could go in February is 10 degree in the nights.Powerhouse Waterfalls, a stunning waterfall is located at a distance of 18 km from Munnar en route to Thekkady. This majestic waterfall cascades down a steep boulder at an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level. The place is much acclaimed for its astounding scenic beauty. Tourists flock to this waterfall to enjoy this spectacular display of nature’s magnificent beauty.
Pallivasal Power station is situated on the waterfalls and hence it is named.We spent the evening walking around the resort and talking some business in between. Tea Country Resort has a beautiful amphitheater and a view point where you can sit, relax and talk, enjoying the cool breeze from the mother Nature.
After a full day of city tour, we bid good bye to Munnar and took our return buses to our home towns with a pledge to come back to Munnar once again in the near future, with family!
